GOP Megadonor Sheldon Adelson Has Died

Sheldon Adelson, the multibillionaire casino mogul and Republican Party megadonor, died Monday at age 87.

Adelson died from complications related to treatment he was receiving for non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma, according to a press release Tuesday morning from Las Vegas Sands, the casino and resort company Adelson owned.

Adelson, whose net worth was estimated by Forbes to be around $33 billion, had been among the most-watched donors supporting President Donald Trump’s 2020 reelection effort.

Trying to get higher profile sources, but Twitter has apparently removed tweets by Resident Trump, while it previously stuck to placing notices guiding users to more, better verified information.

Tweeting Monday night, Trump was again touting the efficacy of his goto Covid-19 panacea, hydroxychloroquine, and a doctor on video prescribing the medication not only to treat the infected, but to prevent infection.

Twitter is reported to have removed at least three of the Resident’s tweets.

The story has made the top of HuffingtonPost.

Sen. Bernie Sanders has found a way to gracefully back out from the Women’s Convention, an appearance which was increasingly controversial.

“I want to apologize to the organizers of the Women’s Convention for not being able to attend your conference next Friday in Detroit. Given the emergency situation in Puerto Rico, I will be traveling there to visit with San Juan Mayor Carmen Yulín Cruz and other officials to determine the best way forward to deal with the devastation the island is experiencing. The U.S. Congress cannot turn its back on the millions of people in Puerto Rico who, four weeks after the hurricane, are still without electricity, food and running water."

His place as opening speaker had already been replaced by Sen. Debbie Stabenow, but the drama wasn’t about to subside, so I appreciate him removing himself as a source of contention on what will not only be an inspiring night for women, but also for the country as a whole. After all, when one of us grows, we all grow. And when we grow together we establish bonds which supersede such trivialities as party, religion or race.

Because the nation liked him. And I mean REALLY liked him. And not just Democrats either, he had across-the-board appeal, which you would have perhaps noticed (if not fully appreciated) had you bothered to remove your head from the dream of Hillary finally taking Her Rightful Place, and dragging a philandering husband along with her.

What in the world made you think you could defeat the Republicans, or even hold the Democrats, with the one person who could unite a fractured Republican party: Hillary Clinton, the very person Republicans have hated and hounded for four damned decades?

So, great job coronating Hillary and all her baggage, Markos. Maybe next time, go with someone people like and not with who The Party decides has ‘earned’ it.

Donald Trump's presidential campaign is facing a lawsuit in a North Carolina court after allegedly failing to discipline a staffer who threatened several of his coworkers with a gun.

Earl Phillip, the North Carolina state director for Trump's campaign, allegedly pointed a pistol at five fellow aides during his time with the campaign while senior staff members ignored complaints from victims.

Vincent Bordini, described as a "dedicated, loyal Trump campaign staffer" in the documents filed Wednesday, sued the Trump campaign after unsuccessfully seeking help from its top brass.

A former Donald Trump campaign manager once terrorized a staffer by jabbing a loaded gun into his knee — and team Trump refused to step in and help the harassed employee, according to a new lawsuit.

Vincent Bordini — once an avid Trump supporter who worked for three months on the campaign as a software trainer — filed a lawsuit Wednesday against North Carolina campaign director Earl Phillip and the Trump presidential campaign for the alleged February incident.

Bordini said he decided to file the lawsuit after the campaign failed to act on the matter.

"I just wanted the campaign to care," he told the Daily News Thursday.

A comprehensive deal on Iran’s nuclear programme has been done, diplomats in Vienna said, bringing to an end a 12-year standoff that had threatened to trigger a new war in the Middle East.

Reports are in that world powers have reached a comprehensive agreement with Iran that will govern its nuclear program for over a decade, culminating a two-year diplomatic effort in which the five permanent members of the United Nations Security Council, led by the United States, have sought to end a twelve-year crisis over Iran's suspicious nuclear program.

More details as they emerge.

On the Fourth of July, the group turned 50 and played their penultimate concert.
America celebrated its 239th birthday yesterday. In Chicago, another American institution reached a milestone, as the Grateful Dead turned 50 and played their penultimate show as a band. The occasion brought out many tributes. A record number of people filed into Soldier Field. New York's Empire State Building rocked Dead colors.

Even President Obama took note of the occasion. The Grateful Dead played a show in support of the president's first campaign in 2008, and since they were bringing their career to a close in his hometown, it was only fitting that he offered the group praise and well-wishes.
