I don’t blog here much. I’ve been lurking for a lot of years. I get excited when you get excited and down when you get down. I’m not going to do the recrimination thing. Doesn’t help. But I tell you what I am going to do:
I’m going to build a giant fucking wall of resistance.
Some principles:
1. Donald Trump (henceforth, The Pig) IS NOT MY FUCKING PRESIDENT. Don’t even try that “unity” shit. Not even once. He is not my president under any circumstances. I cannot accept someone who acted the way he did. He is an amoral, unethical, racist, sexist, nativist, know-nothing giant ass. I will not in any way support, cooperate, consent or otherwise give him an inch to do what he wants. This extends naturally to the Republican Party. Both the Party and The Pig are now real, actually-existing threats to American democracy. They must be stopped at any cost. #notmypresident #stopThePig
2. Any “Democrat” going forward who triangulates, consents to The Pig, our neoliberal overlords, ignores the real economic pain out here in the sticks, refuses to fight or in any way whatsoever cooperates with the racist, sexist Pig and his Party will not get my vote under any circumstances.
3. I hold Trump supporters personally responsible for what happens. They were and are willfully ignorant and proud of it. They weren’t mistaken — they knew exactly what they were doing. The Pig made it perfectly clear what they were voting for. They vehemently wanted this. They are personally responsible. No more Mr. Nice Guy trying to explain in nice words how bad things will happen. Voted for Trump? FUCK YOU.
4. I’m going to scream every nasty, shitty thing they do from the rooftops. March, protest, blog, whatever I have to in order to make it crystal clear just what shitty things the Rs do to the people that voted for them.
5. Midterms need to be meany, nasty and stir our base. We know what happened. Key D constituencies didn’t come out. There will be ample reason to get the pitchforks out if the Republicans do even a tenth of what they say. I will not support any Democrat that waffles during the midterms.
6. Investigate, investigate, investigate. I don’t have any Democratic representatives in Congress. I live in WV which used to be solidly D. Thanks for that Old Democratic Party. So I’m going to pester the remaining rump of Ds in Congress to investigate the shit out of The Pig. I’m going to work for the New Democrats who get elected in the mid-terms to turn the Republican strategy over the past eight years right back on them.
7. I’m going to continue to use my white privilege look out for people who are now on The Pig’s hit-list. You know, African-Americans, migrants, Muslims, women, LGBTQ… I’ve read some nasty shit that they deserve this too, since their turn out was lower in key areas. WRONG. We ran a candidate that didn’t speak to them. That’s over. They need our help. They are targets.
8. If you don’t think its going to get really fucking bad, you weren’t listening. You didn’t believe Trump could win. You didn’t live out here and hear the pain. I made a big stink on this site when Hillary nominated Tim Kaine. I was clear it should have been Warren — someone speaking to the economic pain people feel. Fine. That’s over. But learn your lesson.
THE PIG IS GOING TO TRY TO DO EVERYTHING HE SAID HE WOULD. And he has enablers in Congress and soon the Supreme Court. Don’t rationalize this. Don’t move past the anger. He is a disaster. The only way we recover is to get Democrats who stand and fight for economic issues. That means the party can no longer hop in bed with the economic elite. This doesn’t mean we won’t fight for social justice. It’s not an or, its an and. And for too long it was only social justice. See where that got us? A Pig who now will undo everything we’ve worked so hard for. If you can’t learn the lessons of this election, we are lost forever.
I’m going to build a nice, big beautiful Wall of Resistance. Join me.
