On Tuesday was a special election to fill state house seat left vacant by Republican Dan Kirby (He previously resigned , took back his resignation, then was forced to resign due to sexual misconduct allegations).
From Today's edition of the Tulsa World
Democrats scored a big special election victory Tuesday as retired school teacher Karen Gaddis won an east Tulsa County House seat that has been in Republican hands since the early 1990s.
Last election she garnered a mere 40%. This time around she won with 52%. Turnout was low, but she pulled it off.
The thing is, the majority Oklahomans hate Deomcrats in DC more than than ketchup on a hot dog. But they see what's happening in their State and can no long ascribe that to lefty Libs. They see our flailing schools, cuts to every single state budget and only see tax cuts to claim and breaks for big oil.
Hate radio and FNC have not brain washed them about local politics yet.
I know people have been saying for years to concentrate on local races rather than just bit national races, but it's true. May seem small and insignificant but it's oh so true. Oklahoma is so friggin red small victories are Huge.

Excited to see how this plays out. I am a republican, but these past few legislative sessions have made me think about voting for a democrat.
I've been a registered Republican since I first turned 18... I've thought more about switching the last few months than ever before. The funny thing is that it has more to do with the craziness in OKC than with DC.
This one is silly seeing as how Repubs control 100% of oklahoma...and neighboring Kansas
Dems tend to bankrupt cities/states, no thanks. Look at Illinois, Detroit and Hartford Connecticut. They also tend to vote for silly gun control laws
OK Dems seem more moderate than other States, and a lot of them support gun laws. I'm will stay registered as an R, but will primarily vote D due to the Republicans refusal to abandon or even modify bad agendas like taxes and education.
Regardless of you political affiliation, balance is needed to curb one party from running amok and pandering to special interests instead of the people.
In another race, where Republican Ralphy Shortey is facing three felony counts alleging he solicited a 17-year-old boy for sex. Voters chose to replace him with Democrat Michael Brooks. He won by 9 points.
Sure, both the Dems won in races where they replaced a deviant Family Values politician busted for sexual misconduct...but they weren’t facing THOSE candidates. Both these seats flipped from red to blue in perhaps the reddest state.
