Thank you to all the kossacks who linked to Tasha Cooke's GoFundMe page here, and those who contributed to her modest goals. They were more than met. They were exceeded.
I asked belinda ridgewood to include links to her page in the Harvey Check In diaries.
I knew Tasha's great grandma when I was a child. She was an incredible human being, who encouraged me to be all I could be, and helped me in personal ways to break my own chains.
One of my brothers reached out to Tasha after Harvey made landfall.
Over the past few days I posted these bare minimum updates.
She’s 37 with 3 kids and a grand kid. Running out of meds for her 16 year old child w epilepsy and formula for the 10 month old grand baby. House will likely be condemned, ceiling in lr and kitchen gone. Walls bulging from water. Car under water.
B/c the Port Houston Shipping channel where she works was under 6 feet of water when we spoke, she didn't know when she'd be back at work. I encouraged her to set up a GoFundMe page here: https://www.gofundme.com/4cctjxs
Wednesday, She was rescued with her 3 kids and grand baby and taken to the Houston Convention center, from where she and I texted and talked. By then she had already some angels helping her out and texted me that random people were of more help than the officials there.
You can see updates at her page.
