I recall that there were many diaries a few months ago when the Congress passed a bill to drill in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge. On April 28th the House and Senate passed a joint budget resolution that allows for drilling in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge. It was extremely disheartening. Our need for petroluem has become at too great of a cost. Our government and corporations can focus on alternative forms of energy as well as their distribution to the public.
- With Congress poised to vote this fall on whether to open the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge to oil drilling, a broad coalition of conservation, religious, and other organizations today officially launched Arctic Refuge Action, a summer-long national grassroots and media campaign to protect the Arctic Refuge. The nationwide effort will integrate public events, advertising, and grassroots organizing to amplify the voices of the majority of Americans who oppose drilling in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge.
