    Extremely selectively, picking and choosing only what they want to live by.  

    They omit the things they want to ignore.  They emphasize the things they want to take out of context:  

    Second Amendment?-good, best amendment ever; Fourth Amendment, Eighth Amendment?-bad--ignore them...etc.

    An 'eye for an eye'?=good=war, war and more war; Love your neighbor as yourself, and "Whatever you do for the least of do for me..."?etc, etc--not relevant to them, ignore...

      ...Jesus his own self (who was the one who said that wishy-washy stuff about loving your neighbor and helping the least among us) has personally saved all of them, to hear them tell it.
