  •  Let's make this real simple for right wing-nuts (9+ / 0-)

When is your party prepared to repudiate Joe Arpaio? That hateful old sadist is one of the best recruiters of Latinos and Latinas to the Dems, in my opinion.
There is basically an underlying puke-scented chunk of bigotry and nativism not only in the Republican party as an organization, but in their most ardent supporters. I am not Hispanic, but I do know the aged white bigots who form the core of the party, and it is thus no mystery to me why Latinos and Latinas will never vote Repub in large numbers until the party fundamentally changes (which will mean saying, basically 'Fuck Off' to all the racist old white people who think cultural enrichment means going to the local 'Tres Amigos' for a breakfast burrito). It has little to do with these wedge issues - and will not be ameliorated by having high profile Hispancs like Marco Rubio or Susanna Martinez be figureheads for the Repub organization of dunces, anymore than Sarah Pallin or Michelle Bachmann make them women friendly.
Of course, since political alliances formed when young are pretty sticky, the youth of the Hispanic bloc spell even more bad news to the GOP. Good.

    •  What a shame. No votes for them. (2+ / 0-)

But remember what to do when your opponent is intent on digging a hole for himself.

      Hand him a jackhammer.

Hey Charles, excellent article! First-rate! Make sure all the Republican leadership sees it. Talk up all your points about the Church and free enterprise and no abortion or contraception, the Hispanics will love you!
