  •  Whites were 72% of the electorate this year (0+ / 0-)

    and will probably still be at least 68-69% in 2016. That's enough to control an election, IF they vote as a partisan racial bloc, as Southern whites have been doing since the early '80s.

    Not saying the GOP will be able to round up those kind of numbers at the national level -- they probably won't. But I think there will be those within the party who will decide that is still their least worst strategy. And the teabaggers will be egging them on.

      and the context is, the share of the white vote out of the total is sinking like a stone.  Only a few cycles ago whites were 88% of the electorate.  That's essentially why Republicans are doing so badly right now...they're way behind the demographic curve.

      Shirley Chisholm was right. Our Republic is in deep trouble.
