    maybe the only state to do that.

    With 71.8 percent of its registered voters casting ballots -- almost 12,000 more than did so four years ago -- Iowa chalked its best voter turnout since 1992, when more than 80 percent of voters participated in the election between Bill Clinton and George H.W. Bush. By comparison, the national voter turnout rates was about 57.5 percent.
