    Sinking Romney even lower.

    •  I am really curious how much Obama will gain (1+ / 0-)

I was surprised how close Ohio was given that Obama overperformed the polls in almost every other swing state. Virginia and Colorado were deadlocked going in and Obama won them by 3 and 4, respectively, more than he got in Ohio. If he gains a lot in provisionals then we ought to look into why so many people were forced to vote provisionally, and it will be a lesson to future Democrats never to concede Ohio until the provisionals are counted if it's even close.

      •  Ohio's Appalachian population kept it close (1+ / 0-)

The large numbers of Appalachians in the eastern and southern parts of the state kept Ohio from being a runaway win in 2012. We always have a group or two that insures the state is close in national elections. This year, a bit of racism mixed in with coal interests in SE Ohio helped Romney in Ohio. Fortunately, not enough.
