    Sen. Roy Blunt, R-Missouri, demand­ing in 2011 that local gov­ern­ments in his state be reim­bursed fully for expenses related to the Joplin tor­nado:

    “I’m ask­ing for 100 per­cent fed­eral reim­burse­ment to local gov­ern­ments. They’ve agreed to 75. I think they have to come to a bet­ter num­ber than that, and the right num­ber, I think, would be 100 percent.”
    Blunt this morn­ing, excus­ing House Repub­li­cans for their fail­ure to approve a bill that would have partially reim­bursed local gov­ern­ments in the North­east for their expenses related to Hur­ri­cane Sandy:
    “Some­times when you ask for too much, you don’t get anything.”
