Several times, in response to the question, "Do you know any Democrats who are voting for Bush this year", I have offered up the following:
This summer, my partner and I visited his father, a lifelong Democrat in rural Northern Wisconsin. We almost fell down, when, as soon as we walked in the door, we were greeted with "the picture" of George and Laura on his piano.
So, we had a little discussion, that basically ended in his dad saying that since 9/11 he has come to believe that Bush is the man to keep us safe.
Both me and my partner were shocked, but were happy to hear that his dad's wife was and still is a strong Democrat. From this conversation we both came to believe that Wisconsin was +1 for Bush.
I am happy to report that the honeymoon is OVER. Partner's dad has returned to the fold and is now voting for Kerry.
I can now envision Wisconsin a little more blue today than yesterday.
