I'd like to help my local democratic legislative district (and your as well), by giving them a geographic mapping tool to help organize the district. They need a way to visualize which streets and block need recruiting and registration drives. Something better than a bulletin board with pushpins.
I've worked with a couple of GIS based mapping programs which could do the trick, but before I go reinventing the wheel I thought I'd ask all you Kossacks for recommendations. Alternately, perhaps your local dems are already doing something similar? Or would like to? OR, perhaps there's a custom built political mapping tool already in existence?
(Or... your local Republicans have a super secret supercomputer that is creating 3D laser projections of all our homes color coded by income level. shudder)
I do know this- the local dems here are sorely lacking technical tools to organize their district. I see great energy and enthusiasm though! Time to lend a hand...
