We are the people whose opinions don't matter. Deprived of a voice in our government by the dishonest majority ruling congress. Laughed at when we demand the truth from the corporations dominating OUR airwaves. Talked about on AM radio like we're a blight on the good name of
their United States.
How did it come to be that we have become so powerless? How is it that a teeny, tiny minority can control most of the power in this country to the extent that even an ex-president is little more than a laughing stock to them?
Is it capitalism run amok? Does it even matter at this point?
I rant on below..
True, we shocked them with our email, but they shrugged it off.
That demands then the question be asked; how loud, how disruptive do we have to become to be heard?
I see but three options for us at this disheartening point:
1. continue on with blogs and emails in hope that we can get our message out to enough people to actually effect change in the voting booths
2. fade into the masses and lose our minds in the numbing blather of television essentially giving in to them
3. become physically disruptive taking protests to them everywhere they live and work.
Personally, I'd prefer the first, not for my own comfort or safty's sake, but because it is in keeping with the tradition of effecting peaceful change in our form of government; the writing of letters and posting of complaints and grievances until enough of our representatives hear us.
The second option is absolutely OUT for me.
The third I welcome more and more as my anger builds, but it rests mostly on the outcome of the coming elections.
I'll tell you this; I'm pissed off enough that I'm ready to throw my body into the fight to take this county back, to forgo my personal safety in acts of civil disobedience. IF however, something goes strangely awry and, God forbid, they some how manage to continue to control the House and win a filibuster-proof majority in the Senate, then move on to destroy Social Security, I'm going to start tearing this country's power structure down brick by fucking brick. I will not stand by and watch my fellow Americans be reduced to living in shantytowns dying in abject poverty. I WILL NOT!
And somehow, I don't think I'll be alone wielding that hammer and chisel.
There, I'm on the record for all those taking note.
