I apologize for this short diary and few details, but I wanted to get it out to as many campaigns as possible and this is the quickest way I know how. You will have to
listen to NPR to get the most accurate account--I was still half-asleep as I was listening to it (and I'm on my way to work soon).
The central point of the story was that even though the FBI was sending more terrorist cases to Federal prosecuters, the percentage and number of cases being pursued has gone down (from 50% down to 10%). --But the number of cases for obsenity and pornography has gone up.
If someone has the time to pursue and get the whole story (or a link to it), I think many campaigns can use this as more proof that this administration is doing nothing to keep us safer!
If any campaign uses this information, please make sure you listen to or get the transcript from NPR first. The information I wrote down is as close as I remember, but we are a fact-checking community and I want to make sure the campaigns get it right before speaking. If any one else listens to the story or can provide a link, can you update the details in the comments section? Maybe reply to the "tip jar" comment, so that the whole story stays at the top of the comments.
Here is a link to the story on the Huffington Post (ABC News Report): Report: Justice Department Refusing To Prosecute Terror Cases...
