There ought to be a rule that conservative Judges should not be allowed to write children’s books. In support of this proposition I give you the "Hot House Flowers."
"Hot House Flowers" is a children’s book about the perils of unchecked immigration written by a conservative Brooklyn criminal court judge who was unsatisfied with a lot of the available children’s literature and "wanted to have something that discusses values that I think parents should want to convey to their children."
To this end, the book portrays immigrants as weeds to be trampled by the more desirable flowers.
Now those are my kind of values. I mean, just think of the higher moral worth of a book that teaches yet another generation of American children that they are superior to non-Americans and have a right to trample those who would seek a life in their hot house: America.
I can see it now. Right wing mommy will read Suzy that passage in the Bible where Jesus teaches that we have an affirmative duty to love our neighbor, whether she is a weed or a flower. Then right wing daddy can read her the nice little story about weeds and flowers that says Jesus was full of crap.
Oh the joy as the evenings in children’s bedrooms around America will be filled with a new sound if the judge from Brooklyn has his way. Instead of "Goodnight noises everywhere" we will hear the sound of giggly eager voices saying, "Daddy, let’s trample some weeds."
