I have to confess that Obama is not my first choice for 2008. That said, I have been reading the most amazing posts over the last couple of days. I comment on a blog that consists of both liberals and right-wing conservatives. The right-wingers pretty much think we liberals are crazy and wrong about most everything!
So, consider my amazement as I have been reading the following postings from the RW crowd...
My problem with [Obama] is not where he stands on issue or with him as a person the problem is that he is being crowned king. First off I watch the tv news its the closest I get to liberal news(which is liberal news) and they never show sound bits about him talking on issues. I have heard his battle cry for uniting the people of this country which is great if I thought he could I would vote for him. I never hear any meat in the sound clips and I surely am not going to see him talk. I just cant stand the media picking a president before the election. John edwards is out there talking about issues even hillary talks about issues. Or maybe they show them talking about issues. I mean I know where most of the Dem potential candidates stand on their major issues. Him not so much. Yet they make him out to be a super star. I just haven't seen anything from him yet. Show me what he has done. I do like some dems so that's not the issue.
I didn't smear Obama, on the contrary, I was impressed with him. Hilary, Nancy Pelosi, Howard, Kerry Kennedy.... they all make me vomit. Obama didn't. I just need more info and time to make up mind about him. He has an ease about him like Clinton had.
[I] saw a report with Obama HUSSEIN and indeed he was impressive. He reminded me of Clinton. He is smart and intelligent and he doesn't have the "black chip" on his shoulder. I need more time to make up my mind about him.
And i also think it would be ironic if our next president's name will be Hussein Obama.
Seems like a nice enough person. What experience does he have?
These are NOT people who have any sympathy for the liberal point of view. And they are not sympathetic to races other than their own. Yet, Obama has somehow struck a positive note with them. These are a few of the right-wingers in Minnesota who had respect for Paul Wellstone, even though they hated his politics.
It really does look to me like the right wing is looking for a change in tone. Our job is to make sure the Republican Slime machine is not able slime our people this time. We have a chance to get a Democrat in and to re-unite our country.
