I've been reading diaries like crazy this primary season. I've actually been a registered user for years now, but I never paid much attention to anything but the front page and I never commented or created diaries. I made my first one just a couple of weeks ago. It's been with a strange mixture of dread and excitement that I have inserted myself more deliberately in this community. Anyway, all that said, I have an idea that might have the potential to help begin the much needed reconciliation that I really believe we as progressives and Democrats are hoping for.
Let's consider setting aside a given day, or even a weekend, where diarists are challenged to make diaries that are either only positive candidate diaries (no hit diaries about the other Democratic candidate) or (and most especially) focused only on the general election. The only candidate that can be hit would be McCain and other Republicans that will be running in the contests this Fall. Let's turn the page here. I don't see why we need to wait for the remaining contests or the Superdelegates' decisions in order to get focused on the REAL goal here: Electing more and better Democrats this Fall.
If any of the rest of you folks in this community are interested in this then lets discuss it in the comments. The details of such an effort can be hammered out there. I have no specific preference for a date or dates. If we can make it happen and it goes well (or hell, even if it doesn't) it can be repeated. It could be a monthly or bi-weekly effort.
I'm assuming that most every member of this community, whether they're a Clinton booster or an Obama supporter, can share this common goal of getting the GOP out of the White House and out of as many senate and House seats as possible this Fall. Let's set aside some space for all of us to rediscover some good, solid common ground...and build on it from there.
Time to turn up the heat on McCain!
