I know we all disagree with Barack Obama on FISA, but I challenge anyone to find a candidate they'll agree with 100% of the time on every single issue. It's just not going to happen.
There are going to be disagreements, and yes, I disagree with Obama on FISA. But to think from the start that I'd agree with the guy on everything is asinine. But I still agree with him on almost everything else and I still believe, that despite FISA, he will be one of the best presidents this country has had.
To everyone who is now saying that they will not donate to, support, volunteer, or even vote for Obama because of FISA, I have this to say:
If McCain wins, we'll still have FISA with the telecom immunity there in all it's glory, because if you think he'll do anything to get rid of it, you're dead wrong. We'll still have the same tanking economy, we'll still be in Iraq, we'll still be on the verge of war with Iran, we'll still have one of the worst healthcare systems in the western world, we'll still have $4.00/gallon gas. You see where this is going, right? Basically, we'll still have 4 more years of the same old shit.
If Obama wins, worst case scenario, we'll still have telecom immunity. But, we'll have a president who will work to get rid of it. And all that other stuff I listed above? While it won't all be better on January 21st, by the end of Obama's 4 years, most, if not all of that, will have been vastly improved by an Obama administration.
So, regardless of who wins in November, we'll probably have telecom immunity. It might be a concession we'll have to make, whether we want to or not. But, there's so much more here at stake this election. This is not the year to be a single issue voter.
To everyone who is no longer behind Obama: I beg of you to not drop all of your support for him. It's perfectly OK to share your disagreements with him, but please don't do it in a way that will jeopardize our chances in November, because this election is about more than just FISA. Let's get a candidate elected who will at least be willing to undo telecom immunity and fix this country's problems, instead of letting a candidate who will just keep immunity and make this country's problems worse walk right into office.
