Free Spirit threw down the gauntlet because I complained about the number of posts dealing with Obama and FISA. S/he told me I should post a diary myself if I’m tired of these diaries--so I will. Something tells me my post won’t be around long because it’s just not as interesting as complaining about Obama—but we’ll see.
More after the jump...
I noticed no one wrote about the vandalism of vehicles in Florida; if someone did, it must have dropped off the list because it wasn’t about FISA. So I’m going to write about not necessarily the FL story but about hate crimes and Obama's silence.
I don’t think the vandalism in FL was done by Clinton supporters. My gut tells me it was Republicans trying to fuel a media story about the rift between Clinton and Obama supporters.
But there have been hate crimes against Obama offices during the primaries. The two I can think of were in IN and I when I volunteered in KY, I heard about things happening at the Pikeville office.
The Obama campaign wants to keep these incidents quiet. But my question is--and I hope to have feedback--is this a good thing? Shouldn’t we make Americans ashamed of their racism? Have we become so accustomed to racism (i.e., Obama’s Baby Mama, Kerry with a tan, etc.) that we can’t be shamed? Wouldn't publicity of these crimes (not the FL crime) make more people support Obama?
