If you have been following the smear campaign by Sen. McCain and the Republican party against ACORN you may think this is just another slimy tactics by the same folks that gave us George W. Bush.
I, being of a highly suspicious nature thought there was underlying subterfuge hidden from view.
the Los Angeles Times printed a story entitled
Voters contend they were duped into registering as Republicans.
http://www.latimes.com/...
Dozens of newly minted Republican voters say they were duped into joining the party by a GOP-hired contractor with a trail of fraud complaints stretching across the country.
Voters contacted by The Times said they were tricked into switching parties while signing what they believed were petitions for tougher penalties against child molesters. Some said they were told that they had to become Republicans to sign the petition, contrary to California initiative law. Others had no idea their registration was being changed.
Now this is much different than someone turning in a phony registration card in the name of Mickey Mouse.
So who is the group involved?
It is a bait-and-switch scheme familiar to elections experts. The firm hired by the California Republican Party -- a small company called Young Political Majors, or YPM, which operates in several states -- has been accused of using the tactic across the country.
So one would wonder if this is only problem restricted to this area. No. They seem to have gone nationwide.
Elections officials and lawmakers have launched investigations into the activities of YPM staff in Florida and Massachusetts. In Arizona, the firm was recently a defendant in a civil rights lawsuit. Prosecutors in Los Angeles and Ventura counties say they are investigating complaints about the company
I also found another article on this group from the California Chronicle. DEMOCRATS MAKE CHARGES AGAINST REPUBLICANS FOR VOTER FRAUD.
http://www.californiachronicle.com/...
This practice is called "slamming" in political consultant parlance, and it is a felony violation of the California Election Codes that carries penalties of up to 16 months in state prison for each incident.
The Democrats confirmed what an assistant Registrar had told them. The company doing the criminal "slamming" is called "Young Political Majors" (YPM).
I think we need to use this information to push back the smear campaign against ACORN.
For those of you interested in ACORN and it's response here is their website.
