I found DAILYKOS a few months before the 2004 election and
rarely a day went by without a visit for the wisdom and predictions. The people here are amazing.
Being from the very red state of Tennessee, I knew my vote was only a symbol just like it will be this year.
On election day 2004 I worked all day at the Kerry/Edwards HQ .
We rented a big screen TV to watch the election results and celebrate victory together.
About 5:30 p.m. I came home to change clothes and fix a dish for the party. THis is when it happened.
I logged on to DAILYKOS to check out how the voting was going.
Someone had posted the exit polling data and it looked lke Kerry was going to win. I think it was 51% to 49% in most of the battleground states.
My eyes nearly leaped out of my head and I could not wait to get back to HQs to tell everyone.
I literally floated back to the HQs and announced what I had just read. We were all ecstatic for about 3 hours.
Today I am a bag of emotions. I called a friend who was with me in 2004 and we had a cry together.
I want to be excited and hope that this brilliant, inspiring person named Barack Obama will be the next president of OUR country. The more I hear him speak the more I realize he is the RIGHT one at the RIGHT time.
Tonight, when the announcement is made, I will shed more tears. I hope they will be tears of joy.
