So Dick Cheney is on his media blitz saying Obama has made this country "less safe" by eliminating torture as a tactic the U.S. engages in and closing Guantanamo Bay. Hmmm.
I, personally, am not too worried about the men at Gitmo "being released into our neighborhoods" any time soon. I might be a little more worried about their family and kinsmen back home wanting revenge for our continued detainment of men who have been charged with no crimes.
But I have a few questions for the former Vice Dick. (Even his mama knew when she named him how he'd turn out. Heh.)
Should we feel more safe when we lose our jobs in the economy you guys sold to Wall Street?
Should we feel more safe when the health care/insurance industry is more interested in profits than actually healing the sick?
Should we feel more safe that the USDA is underfunded, understaffed and carries no real weight in making our food supply contaminant free?
Should we feel more safe when no path to retirement is in sight?
Should we feel more safe when companies aren't taken to task for intimidating workers who want to organize themselves?
Should we feel more safe when there is no real oversight of the imports brought into this country? (think Chinese toys and pet food)
Should we feel more safe when white collar criminals (and federal criminals) go free but we can be in the slammer for getting caught with weed?
Should we feel more safe when the government can wiretap our phonecalls and scan our emails?
Should we feel more safe when whistleblowers are persecuted mercilessly?
Should we feel more safe when our Supreme Court shows obvious political bias in their renderings?
Should we feel more safe when the media has been conglomerated under corporate interests and controls the messaging we are "allowed" to hear?
Should we feel more safe when the oil companies are in cahoots with the auto manufacturers to promote large, oil-burning monoliths that can cream a Smart-Car?
Should we feel more safe that industry is ruining the natural landscape of this country and wreaking havoc on natural barriers and ecosystems?
Should we feel more safe that there is a plastic floating island the size of Texas out in the Pacific that is killing wildlife and polluting our waters?
Should we feel more safe that for the past eight years the mouth-breathers have denied global warming is "real" and continue to fight to pollute this one earth with their caustic greenhouse gases for a profit?
Should we feel more safe that basic infrastructure repairs and upgrades have been ignored because some idiots refuse to pay their fair share in taxes?
Should we feel more safe when hurricanes hit?
Should we feel more safe when the purported "mastermind" of 9/11 hasn't been caught and nobody seems to care anymore?
Should we feel more safe that companies like Monsanto are squeezing out smaller food suppliers?
Should we feel more safe that our big oil companies are polluting the South American rivers and wilderness to the detriment of numerous species?
SHOULD WE FEEL MORE SAFE WHEN THE INTERESTS OF THE WEALTHY AND THE CORPORATIONS ARE HELD IN MUCH HIGHER REGARD THAN THAT OF THE CITIZENS OF THIS COUNTRY?
Hey Dick: You screwed us all and profited from it. STFU and wait for your day in court. That's the only day I'll have an interest in what you have to say.
