Just wanted to provide some numbers regarding the impact of the Speech on viewers.
http://politicalticker.blogs.cnn.com...
CNN Poll on Obama plan: pre-speech 53% favor/36 oppose...post speech 67 favor/29 oppose.
CNN Poll: 72% of speech watchers said Obama "Clearly stated his health care goals
The latter result is the one that's meaningful for me given that a majority was unclear on the goals of Health Care reform prior to the speech. As they used to say at "Syms" clothing stores "an educated consumer is our best customer"
Let's hope that we are now a nation of more educated health consumers
Update
Thanks for the recs; happy to be the messenger bearing good news; see ya in DC Sunday!
UPDATE II
FYI: here is a bit more info regarding the poll, including the Dem/Repub breakdowns. As many thought there were far more Dems in the sample than Repubs.
"The CNN/Opinion Research Corporation poll was conducted just before and just after the president's speech, with 427 adult Americans questioned by telephone. The survey's sampling error is plus or minus 5 percentage points.
The sample of speech-watchers in this poll was 45 percent Democratic and 18 percent Republican. Our best estimate of the number of Democrats in the voting age population as a whole indicates that the sample is about 8-10 points more Democratic than the population as a whole."
