We have seen this so many times previously, it almost goes without saying - should this even be a diary? Well, you see my conclusion.
Cross-currents, unsourced quotes and misdirection has predominated the HCR discussion to this point. And it continues today with Mr. Reid.
The best-buddy of the far left (?!?!)Harry Reid is being attributed, THROUGH A SOURCE, that he will drop the Public Option (PO) from the pending legislation in the Senate in order to appease guess who?
From Plum Line http://theplumline.whorunsgov.com/... :
Buried in this New York Times piece on Harry Reid’s role on health care is the news that according to anonymous Senate aides, Reid may have decided that the Senate bill will have no public option to appease Olympia Snowe and a few "centrist" Dem Senators.
The focus is now on Reid, because he’s overseeing the creation of a Senate bill by combining different Senate committee versions, one of which has a public option, the other of which doesn’t. Guess which approach is winning out:
To appeal to Ms. Snowe, as well as to centrist Democrats like Senators Ben Nelson of Nebraska and Mary L. Landrieu of Louisiana, the combined bill would not include a proposal for a government-run insurance plan, or public option, despite the clamoring of liberals who support it, senior Democratic Senate aides said.
Well, first of all, no one should get too riled up about this. The comment comes from another Anomymus source. My Anonymus has been very busy of late.
Secondly, many here have announced previously their predicitons that Mr. Reid would rather capitulate BEFORE any negotiations actually begin, so he can move forward from a position of weakness that good ole' Harry is known for.
Thirdly, Mr Reid, in an attempt to exert his influence, could possibly collide with knockout artists Schumer and Rockafeller on the issue of PO.
Lastly, even if the PO is "dropped" in this iteration of legislation, this linked article infers that the PO could return to the bill as an ammendment.
So I figured it might be enjoyable to get in some preemptive dissillusionment against Mr. Reid, which is always a sport in season at Kos (and rightfully so).
It is clear that opposition to the PO is waning. The town hall idiots prematurely peaked. With indicators pointing toward a strong possibility of a bill with PO, one wonders about the reporting of such an anomymus quote.
And this is not a request to raise funds for any entity.
