Sen. Chris Dodd suggests that of President Obama nominates Warren she will not garner the 60 votes necessary for confirmation.

How many times are liberals suppose to fall for this choreographed kabuki? Whenever a progressive issue or potential nominee seems to attract a groundswell of public support one Democratic Senator or another comes to publicly note the difficulty of obtaining 60 votes. And then that difficulty becomes the reason why the White House abandons the idea or the person.
Does anyone think this is an accident? Obama and Geithner don't want Warren. Democratic Senators, Wall Street backed, do not want to have to vote against her. So rather than force a vote, actually force Senators to vote against her, we'll instead acknowledge she would not have gotten the votes needed if such a vote were ever to take place. No point in nominating her then.
This sabotaging of progressive initiatives, depsite public support, by the White House and Congressional Democrats has gotten old. Public option, too big to fail, Brown-Kaufman, too small of a stimulus, I mean it just goes on. And every time we liberals are suppose to simply nod in agreement and bow to our oh so wise and "pragmatic" elected officials as they once again tell us to go to Hell.
The White House and Dems more generally are obviously counting on the fact that to liberal voters the GOP is far worse. On this issue, however, they are wrong. The two parties are exactly the same. They have both demonstrated they will do whatever Wall Street wants. And don't tell me about the new reform. It does not addres too big to fail banks or these banks putting at risk government insured deposits. The one worthwhile thing, the Consumer Financial Protection Agency provision will be in practice gutted by installing yet another Wall Street tool as its first head.
Dodd's "suugestion" seals the deal. She will not be nomminated. Dodd's statement is the first step in an effort to provide the White House with justification for not nominating Warren. How many times have we seen this same WH-Senate kabuki play out over the last 18 months?
