I was just getting ready to watch an episode of One Piece Online and the first ad that came up contained many false an inflammatory claims (Ads by Google, naturally). The web site that the ad directs the user to has a link to inflammatory YouTube version of the ad. Follow below the fold for a transcript of the ad.
Our national debt is increasing at over three and a half billion dollars every day, and the new healthcare law increases our debt even more. Economists are predicting the new healthcare law passed by Congress will cut health benefits for seniors, increase the cost of insurance premiums, raise taxes, and force us to borrow even more money from China and other foreign governments. Congress must stop digging a deep hole of debt that we'll never get out of. "Please stop digging."
The ad claims to be paid for by a think tank called the Employment Policies Institute. According to SourceWatch.org, the Employment Policies Institute is a Rick Berman front group. Giving how little information is available about the group from their website, I'm inclined to believe SourceWatch.
So, the lies in this ad should be obvious to any long time Kossack. The question is, how do we combat this without given them a shitload of "free advertising." SOP in the mainstream media is to play the ad and then respond, but that doesn't seem to be an effective way of countering a lie.
So, owing to my ignorance over how to proceed further, I'll leave it up to the commenters to make suggestions about where to go from here.
