These words
“a divisive figure simply not fit to lead this great state"
are the words of the former Republican Senator from New York, Alfonse D’Amato about current Republican candidate for New York State Governor - Carl Paladino. It is part of an open letter that he signed. This letter is also signed by former Democratic (DINO really) Mayor Ed Koch, and Democrat Carl McCall, the former NYS Comptroller:
To get these three men in a room and have them all agree on the day of the week would in itself be a challenge. McCall would be expected to sign this, Koch maybe.
But D’Amato? Senator Pothole? I live in New York, and that’s what we called him, as abrasive as he sometimes was, he did get things done for the state. He got the potholes filled. And a loyal Republican he always is (or now was).
My hat’s off to the former Senator for his standing on principle, reason and goodwill. I think that I can even add integrity here.
We all knew how bad Paladino is, nothing more than a bigoted batsh*t brained crazed, deranged swindling lunatic. And now we see another example of the current lot of dislogicated repugs slowly driving away the reasonable of the party.
This all started with the introduction of our dear friend Sarah Palin (puke) as the vice presidential nominee of the party. And she lost, and we can’t be thankful enough for that. But somehow the loss convinced her, and she in turn convinced the hardcore psycho fringe of the repugs that they didn’t win because they weren’t batsh*t brained, or psychotic enough. So now, what a sad state our nation is in as we basically have a one party system.
More from the letter
Yesterday, however, anger overcame reason and enabled a fringe element to choose the Republican nominee. The end result was the selection of Mr. Paladino, a divisive figure simply not fit to lead this great state...
Mr. Paladino is also running a disingenuous campaign. He has portrayed himself as an anti-government crusader, while embodying the very worst of Albany's pay-to-play culture... Paladino's real estate empire takes in over $10 million each year in government rents alone…..
There's a reason why even the chairmen of the Republican and Conservative parties disavowed Mr. Paladino's candidacy, noting that he "stands in stark contrast to what the Republican party stands for," that Paladino is a "dangerous candidate," and that he "tries to appeal to the mean spiritedness" of people..... Through his own words and actions Carl Paladino has proven himself unfit to serve as Governor - he is exactly the wrong person to lead our state.
D’Amato appeared on out local NY1 News Channel, and had this to say.
The letter accuses Paladino of practicing a destructive brand of politics. D’Amato says he understands voters are angry, but feels Paladino is over the top.
“He is dangerous, at the least, he is mean spirited and he tries to divide people.” D’Amato told WCBS 880′s Peter Haskell.
Of course, no diary would be fair or complete without a rebuttal from the Paladino campaign
Paladino’s campaign manager Michael Caputo said the three men are career politicians who only want to preserve their insider access.
"You would expect that kind of rhetoric from pigs whose heads are being pulled from the trough.,” Caputo said.
Pigs whose heads are being pulled from the trough? Such a Classy response huh? Wanna see more along the lines of classy from Paladino?
Paladino called former New York Republican Gov. George Pataki a "degenerate idiot."
In emails obtained by WNYMedia.net and verified for their authenticity, Paladino was caught forwarding racial messages about President Obama, birther claims, pornography, and bestiality. When confronted about his emails, Paladino blamed the Democrats. Paladino’s big outside-the-box policy idea is to construct prison dorms for welfare recipients.
Can anyone top this? We still have a few weeks in the campaign, but it’s gonna take some effort.
Democratic candidate Andrew Cuomo has refrained from commenting on this development.
We're New Yorkers, and we'll vote this despicable excuse of a human being down so far, this message won't be back in NYS anyway. Well, we hope.
Governor Andrew Cuomo has a nice ring to it.
