Just released this morning, the latest Quinnipiac poll in Connecticut has state attorney general Richard Blumenthal pulling away from wrestling CEO Linda McMahon by a 54-43 margin. Most importantly, Blumenthal is solidly above the 50% mark.
Two weeks ago, the Q-Poll had Blumenthal up by a mere 48-45.
more after the flip.
I think Blumenthal taking to the air and hitting McMahon over taking a $46 million bonus while laying off 10% of her workforce was the first body slam to McMahon's chances.
However, I think McMahon did herself in with some of her recent remarks:
- Putting reducing the minimum wage on the table; while
- Not knowing what the state minimum wage was; and then
- Saying that a 20% cut to Social Security & Medicaid should be considered.
That really made her look out of touch - she has her hundreds of millions of dollars, but screw the little people.
October 14, 2010 - Blumenthal Opens Up Double-Digit Lead In Senate Race, Quinnipiac University Connecticut Poll Finds; Independent Voters Shift Back To Democrat
Reversing a months-long decline in his lead in the Connecticut U.S. Senate race, Democratic State Attorney General Richard Blumenthal has opened up a 54 - 43 percent likely voter lead over Republican former wrestling executive Linda McMahon, according to a Quinnipiac University poll released today.
This compares to a 49 - 46 percent Blumenthal lead in a September 28 likely voter survey by the independent Quinnipiac (KWIN-uh-pe-ack) University poll.
In today's survey, 3 percent are undecided and 7 percent of voters who name a candidate say they could change their mind by Election Day. Blumenthal leads 95 to 4 percent among Democrats while McMahon leads 87 to 12 percent among Republicans.
