I was trying to think of a pithy title and if there is a better one, I'll change it. But the title marks something disturbing that has happened. It's not so disturbing that the Maine Twins won't vote for anything the Democrats propose, no matter how watered down. What's disturbing is that the Maine Twins have now joined the effort to repeal APACA(aka HCR/HIR, aka ObamaCare). And I think people here know what else that means(besides Olympia Snowe wanting to stick it to the owner of this blog). Find out over the flip.
According to Joshua Green, at the Andrew Sullivan Collective, the Maine Twins are co-signing an amicus, or friend of the court brief(reported by The Portland Press-Herald), first circulated by Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell(R-KY), challenging the constitutionality of the health care law. And that means a few things.
First, it means that the Maine Twins can't be trusted on anything. Second, it means that Olympia Snowe, because her term is up sooner, is attempting to preempt a teabagger primary challenge. So she isn't going to change parties, or run as an independent. But this doesn't mean all is lost.
Why isn't all lost? Because if Snowe is throwing her lot in with the teabaggers, that gives her little room to go Independent if she is indeed teabagged out of the Maine GOP between now and 2012. Second, despite Maine's independent streak, it gives Maine Democrats a chance to hammer Snowe and rightly portray as being in league with teabaggers and out of touch with Maine, since Obama did smash Cranky McSame there by 10 points.
Lastly, I want to know if the TradMed will stop calling Senators Snowe and Collins moderates. By doing this, neither of them are anything of the sort. And this is just further proof that Republicans(except Richard Lugar on nuclear arms control) have no interest of working with the President on anything.
Update: Instead of the original title: Did The Maine Twins Just Teabag Markos?, which some people don't seem to get, I've changed the title to what it is now.
