Jamie is the new Republican Representative from the 3rd District in Washington state. She took over Brian Baird's old seat. She came to Centralia Wednesday night for a Town Hall that was tightly controlled. She had a previous Town Hall earlier in the week in Vancouver that was not so tight. Jamie learned from that Town Hall.
Vancouver Town Hall "Pulls Few Punches"
She started off the evening w/ a 40 minute power point presentation w/ tons of charts & talk about our children & grandchildren & the national debt. We got about 30 minutes for questions drawn by lottery. Jamie's not going to vote to raise the debt ceiling unless significant cuts are made. She didn't talk about how Republicans raised the debt ceiling seven times from 2000-2008. She doesn't talk about a lot of things.
She touched briefly on the Ryan Budget which she voted for. She didn't talk at all about the fact that the Ryan plan is front loaded w/ a big tax cut for the wealthy. Taxes for the rich are cut in this plan from 35% to 25% right off the bat. The privatization of Medicare to a voucher system doesn't take place until 2022, but that tax cut would take place right away.
Jamie loves Medicare Advantage....and she wants us to love it too. She also said she didn't vote for a voucher plan although she voted for the Ryan Budget. Go figure.
