Charlie Cook giving the keynote address at the ACEP Scientific Assembly this morning predicts that the Republicans will lose 10-15 House seats, but retain control, and will gain enough Senate seats to narrowly gain control. He also states that incumbent presidents don't get reelected with an economy like this.
the American College of Emergency Physicians is having their annual Scientific Assembly at the Moscone Center in San Francisco this weekend, and chose the pundit Charlie Cook to give the keynote address on the Affordable Care Act, but he started with predictions for the election.
He said that the election is the Republican's to lose, but that they do have a pathway to that end, and that the pathway is really well-lit. Their win depends on nominating someone who doesn't offend the Independants; the people "between the forty-yard lines." As we all know, the only major such candidate is Romney. He went through them individually, and was left with Cain as the "not Romney" candidate now. He believes, though, that the Republican's head will overcome the heart, and Romney will win the nomination and the election.
He gives the SCOTUS 50:50 on eliminating the individual mandate, but also that the new Congress will repeal the ACA through budget reconciliation.
I apologize for a poorly edited diary on my I-phone, but wanted to get this out ASAP. I'll try to edit it later.
