Where has Mitt Romney been all week during the Democratic Convention? Following the tradition of lying low during the other party's convention? Hardly...He's an asshole and never exhibits a moment of grace. His story is he's doing debate prep and he did manage to go on Fox news yesterday and piss about Obama ending the work requirement for welfare. But the "debate prep" had me scratching my head-the first debate is October 3-I suppose he needs some time to get all of his stories straight but if that's the case-two months isn't even enough. Plus unless he plans no campaigning from now till the debates, he'll have a whole new set of lies to account for....another day, another Romney lie. Is he sitting on his convention bounce? Well, maybe if he had gotten one. Is he worn out from all the lying and losing? It would wear me out but I don't think that's it.
Follow the orange pretzel.
Turns out Mitt is booked as the "exclusive" guest on Meet the Press this Sunday. I'm sure he didn't just wake up today and decide to do the show and chances are if he's going anywhere but Fox he knows he needs to reach a broader audience then the clowns who choose Fox for their "news." It's likely this appearance was booked at least a week ago-probably negotiating details till recently. So the so-called "debate prep" was likely "Gregory prep." And since when does a Republican need to prepare for Gregory's softball questions? Well there are those lies to keep straight. And more importantly, if he were out campaigning this week, he'd likely do or say something stupid he'd need to spin. By not campaigning, he's freezing the timeline of what he can can be asked.
For anyone who tweets, Gregory seems to be getting some feedback there. Being twitter-challenged, I'm dropping by Gregory's FB page to send some suggested questions. While they're likely to be ignored, never under-estimate the press's willingness to let someone else do their homework for them.
