This election (if reports are true, I still can't believe that the GOP didn't know what was coming their way) proves that those who reject science and reason and instead embrace their ideology, end up losing, elections and worse.
This rejection of reason, of science, is endemic within the GOP. The polls were wrong, they were skewed, Democrats are not going to show up to vote, minorities won't vote, young people are not going to vote, all of these things they "believed" not because of science, but because their ideology wouldn't let them use science or reason.
But then again, why should this surprise us? Romney and the GOP decided that facts don't matter, they claimed as much early on, they ran ad after ad that was nothing but lies, Romney rarely spoke without stating a lie. Science and reason had and have no place in the modern GOP.
And then we have Mr. Turd Blossom today telling us that Obama won because he suppressed the vote. Funny, but I seem to remember a GOP elected official claiming that after the voter ID law was passed in PA, the state was "secure" for Romney.
Funny thing about rejecting science and reason, it comes back to bite you in the ass.
The rejection of global climate change by the GOP, of what rape is, of how a woman get pregnant, all of these, and so much more, these rejections of science and reason have exposed the ugly underbelly of the GOP, exposed and naked for the world to see.
I have been reading non stop since yesterday and am continuing to be amazed at the reality that the GOP just can't, and in my opinion, will not face, they lost because they didn't use science and reason, they lost because you can't always just throw money at a problem (and I find that pretty funny in itself because that is what the GOP claims is the downfall of government, always throwing money at problems.)
The GOP, from what I am reading, also did not have a ground game, lets face it, a ground game doesn't make much money for consultants, it is money that ends up going to those who work the ground game. And here again is the reality of GOP thought and policies, their top down approach make Rove a wealthy man, but gave them nothing. Obama had a great ground game and won. Reality strikes again.
There is so much more, but right now all I can say is that the GOP is clearly the party of mystical thinking, make believe, the land of OZ, and I am not sure that they know how to find their way back home.
