It's been way too long since my last diary. So, with holiday time approaching, I figured I now have even less excuse than normal for not writing a new diary.
This diary is really just a short poem inspired by the all the recent talk about the "Fiscal Cliff," or more accurately, the "Gentle Fiscal Incline." Republicans are apparently once again in the holiday spirit. But, one has to wonder which spirit they are channeling. Answer the poll below and let's find out.
But, regardless of which poltergeist is currently pulling their strings, they are now in the process of preaching an austerity gospel that would make Ebenezer Scrooge, and even his sidekick Scrooge McDuck, blush.
Anyway, I don't claim to be a great poet. But the poetic muse moved me this morning. So, don your beret and meet me below Le Fleur de Kos...if you dare!
Cuts for the Rich
Cuts from the Poor
Tax cuts for the rich.
Benefit cuts from the poor.
It's a balanced approach
God-and-The-Market
Have decreed it,
Don't ya know?
Can't tax job creators,
Not for lazy 47-percenters.
If you're not rich,
Blame yourself.
Even if Wall Street
Stole your future
And got paid to do it.
That's OUR system,
You Commie!
Quit your Socialist whining.
It's a balanced approach:
Balanced on your back,
The way it should be.
So, give us more tax cuts
And end the entitlements.
How dare you think
You're entitled to anything.
If you want special favors
You should've been born rich.
