Just received confirmation from a reliable source that President Obama has selected John Kerry as the next Secretary of State.
Per CBS:
BOSTON (CBS) – President Obama has picked Sen. John Kerry as the next secretary of state, according to a report in the Chicago Sun-Times.
Sun-Times columnist Michael Sneed reports New Jersey Sen. Robert Menendez will replace Kerry as chairman of the senate foreign relations committee.
Sen. Kerry became the presumed frontrunner for the position after U.N. ambassador Susan Rice officially withdrew her name from consideration.
Rice had been considered a top contender for the position before finding herself at the center of a controversy surrounding her account of the attack on the American Embassy in Libya.
If Kerry is confirmed, a special election will be held in Massachusetts to replace him in the senate.
With all that being said, seeing that Scott Brown is ready to run again in yet another special election to replace an iconic Massachusetts figure and as this is not a presidential election Brown's chances are much better...
STARTING TODAY WE NEED TO SUPPORT CONGRESSMAN ED MARKEY!
For those in Massachusetts get the word out about Ed. it is never to early - we need to hit the ground running on this or else you will hear the term 'Senator Scott Brown' yet again.
He is the most well financed potential opponent having over $3 million in his campaign as opposed to $400k for Scott Brown and he has the experience to make a great senator, having had experience of winning high profile elections.
