The Storyline
In a one-day nuclear war between China, India, and Pakistan almost a decade ago, China emerged as the victor. After the war, a type of human dysfunctionality called the Disease of the Century has slowly pulled the emotions from people. An industry that supplies human tears filled with emotions arose. These tears are taken from volunteers.
Baldassario is an art collector who secretly steals wild tears as a way to add to his extensive art collection. He agrees to steal the tears of remorse from the director of the pharmaceutical company that sells captive tears from volunteers who are regarded as so much cattle.
The danger of the mission entices Baldassario, plus the promise of a piece of high-value art. This will be the highlight of his career if he can successfully harvest the tears of true remorse. Baldassario travels to Shanghai to attempt to get close enough to his target and trigger the emotion to fill his tears.
