The dogs eventually stopped barking their intruder alerts at the window. Fresh spatters of dog spit and wet nose smears trickled down the glass in artistic patterns. It was 13 degrees below zero with the promise of more snow. This time of year we stay near the house and don't venture far.
The possum that lives under the deck was hot-tubbing in the heated water dish under the bird feeders and remained relaxed for another ten minutes in the luxury of the 40 degree water. This was my first observation of this possum oddity. The hot-tubbing has continued each day since.
