We live in a society with a wildly varied history. Some of that history is admirable. Nonetheless, we also know that part of that history reveals a deep well of sickness as part of our society's core. That well contains sexism, racism, violence against women, violence against almost anyone who is seen as weak and anger at anyone seen as different. What happens when that well overflows? Who perpetrates these wanton acts? Why do these acts occur?
These are the issues that #YESALLWOMEN addresses so well. May those involved move their concerns from the internet into the streets.
BUT, we must not allow ourselves to ever forget the most fundamental facilitator of so much of the horrid violence in this nation, no matter its cause.
IT'S THE GUNS! IT'S THE GUNS! IT'S THE GUNS! IT'S THE GUNS! IT'S THE GUNS!
The culture that breeds and spreads this sickness must be changed. BUT, I believe our first duty to others is to join together and be certain that our society disarms those who are so infected by this putrefying illness that they represent a physical threat to others.
Send your love to those affected by this tragedy. Send your anger, first, at those who make these acute episodes, outbreaks that any sane society would call an epidemic. possible.
STOP THE NRA. KILL IT POLITICALLY, ALONG WITH ALL ITS POLITICAL MINIONS.
Ah, but you and I know that guns and our out of control gun culture are just symptoms of this deeper sickness. True, but if we treat symptoms appropriately, we can often affect a much deeper disease.
