On Columbus Day, October 13, I will be having my "Flatten the Flat Earth Party" campaign fundraiser (invitation below) at Jacques Rosas Art Studios, 528 W 39th Street in Manhattan (between 10th and 11th Avenues). The event will last from 6:30-8:30 PM, with a VIP reception starting at 6. Special guest speakers will include Assemblymen David Weprin and Councilman Corey Johnson, as well as a possible surprise guest.
As I have written before, this is an extremely winnable race, but we need your help to push us over the top. The Cook PVI Index is only R+1. Some polling sources have even told me that this is being generous to Peter King, and that the index is more like D+2 or 3 due to the district being redrawn after the 2010 Census to include more Democratic areas. Even Republicans are disillusioned with King and see him as part of the status quo, while libertarians are antagonized by his neoconservative, nation-building foreign policy as well as his vocal, strident opposition to the likes of Rand Paul.
Even Peter King admits that this is a tough race. From his Facebook page:
As I enter this campaign, the reality is that of the 234 Congressional districts held by Republicans, my district is the 10th least Republican district in the country. In fact, President Obama carried this district in 2012.
If you are unable to come to the fundraiser, you can also contribute online here: https://secure.actblue.com/... or send a check to Patricia Maher For Congress, 73 Ireland Place #195, Amityville NY 11701. Thank you.
