Jason Ritchie calls out Congressman Dave Reichert (seated just a few feet away) on the government shutdown and his campaign's refusal to hold a debate. This recording is from the Auburn Chamber of Commerce's Candidate Meet and Greet, held on October 21st. Despite the Ritchie campaign pushing for a debate for over two months, this was the first time the candidates had even been in the same room since the primary in August. Five minutes after Jason spoke, Congressman Reichert left the event.
Conor Bronsdon, Jason's campaign manager:
Can't help out with getting out the vote? You can still make a difference with just one phone call - a call to Congressman Reichert himself. Call Rep. Reichert and ask him why he won’t debate the issues. Let him know you deserve more from your representative. The people of this district deserve answers and this is your chance to help us get them.
DAVE REICHERT'S CAMPAIGN OFFICE : (425) 455-3283
Debates are supposed to be an important part of any campaign. Dave Reichert's colleague from the 5th CD, Rep. McMorris-Rodgers just announced an upcoming debate in her district-- her third debate this year. Dave Reichert has had a grand total of one debate in six years!
Despite hand delivering a debate challenge to Reichert’s office over two months ago, despite repeated calls from our office to his, despite the League of Women Voters offering to moderate said debate, and despite over 2,000 people signing a petition demanding a debate from their representative, Rep. Reichert has not even taken the time to respond. As Jason likes to say, anyone who asks for your vote, should be willing to stand before you and discuss the issues. If Rep. Reichert continues to ignore the demands of the people, he does not deserve to hold office.
Can't get Dave on the phone? Leave a message and call back again tomorrow!
We deserve a progressive Democrat in the House. Dump Reichert and send him home! Votes, donations, phone banking (at home or with volunteers), tweets, likes on Facebook. Spread the news! Details below the golden swirly thingee.
Ballots have been mailed. Multiply your vote with every call that encourages a Democratic voter to mail it in. They have the latest software and you can phone from home or join in with the positive volunteers to phone bank.
We're making GOTV (Get Out The Vote) phone calls every day to voters across the district from our Issaquah office. Many of you have helped make those calls, either in the office or from your homes. A big thanks to our wonderful volunteers - we couldn't do it without you. To those who would still like to help, call me at 206-245-9508 or email me back at manager@ritchieforcongress.com. We’re open from 10am-8pm every weekday and 10am-6pm every weekend until the election, and we need your help.
I hope I can count on you to make one (or many) phone calls to help us win this election!
