Must be one of the GOP's secret negotiators of the secret plan to fix immigration via secret "private discussions" that never see the light of day, because they're secret.
Careful you don't
roll your eyes so hard when reading this from
NY Times columnist David Brooks that they pop out of your head:
This move would also make it much less likely that we’ll have immigration reform anytime soon. White House officials are often misinformed on what Republicans are privately discussing, so they don’t understand that many in the Republican Party are trying to find a way to get immigration reform out of the way. This executive order would destroy their efforts.
Ah, there's secret plan to end the
war impasse on comprehensive immigration reform. Obviously! I mean, why else have Republicans obstructed any progress on immigration reform the last six years, if not because of their secret plan? Why else would House Republicans block the Senate's bipartisan comprehensive immigration reform bill if not because of their secret plan? Why else would Republicans in virtually every race this year run against "amnesty," if not for their secret plan?
So Mr. President, please do nothing, that way the secret plan can continue to percolate among "private discussions," because that's how problems are now solved in this country. Not by actually doing something, but with secret "private discussions" in the backrooms of David Brook's fevered imagination.
