As many may, I opened a new business this summer. The first two months were absolute pandemonium. For the store, we purchased a complex POS/accounting software package. Just getting the point of being familiar with all of the features is a process that is still ongoing. We originally decided to create bar codes for all of our products because the company at that point didn't offer touch screens. We quickly realized that was a mistake. Then we didn't know how to change the product codes, so everyone had to search for items to ring them up for sales. That created two problems. One: it took too long to ring up sales; and two: to try and reduce waiting times, our employees would assign sales to the wrong products screwing up our inventory numbers. This was finally fixed last month just in time for the company to tell us they now offered touch screens. We just got those in so the process begins again.
We also began converting our storage space into a party room this month. That process will hopefully finish by the first week of December. In addition, to combat the reduced foot traffic, we will begin hosting tasting events. Many of our products are imported and very unique. Thus people are reluctant to try and5buy them. We hope by holding these events people will take the plunge. All the products we import we have tried and enjoy very much, and we really believe others will love as well.
Besides that I am gearing up for tax season, but to be honest that may not happen. Due to some financial issues I am not going to go into, it won't be worthwhile for me. Still I am going to go through all the training just in case.
Finally, it's hockey season again. As this is the last season the Islanders will play at the Coliseum, I have made it my mission to attend every home game. With the team playing better than they have in over a decade, it's been a joy to be there watching. Of course that doesn't include my fantasy team.
So there in a nutshell is some of what has kept me away. I hope to be around more often in the future.

Please consider campionrules for a top comment, from the diary, "Gawd - I Hate Hunters," by Hugh Jim Bissell. Let's not be speciest! Or would that be speciesist?
Due to totally spacing out until 8:45 tonight (yes that is how long ago this diary came about), regretfullyI do not have noms. Bad diarist, bad!
[ed note: I did, and they are a top commenter]
