Sorry kids, Republicans want to deport your parents.
So Rep. Bob Goodlatte, the House judiciary chairman, decided to
vomit some words, and wouldn't you know it, Obama has torn apart the fabric of time and space.
President Obama recently declared from the White House that he is effectively rewriting our immigration laws on his own terms. Under his sweeping executive edicts, President Obama has proclaimed that five million unlawful immigrants can live and work here legally, redefined who is a priority for immigration enforcement, and gutted the interior enforcement of our immigration laws.
Nope, nope, and nope. No laws have been rewritten. He has merely instructed executive agencies to focus their enforcement on people who are a danger to America, not those who are working and paying taxes and raising their AMERICAN CHILDREN.
Seriously, why are Republicans so dead-set on tearing the parents away from American kids? Doesn't seem very "family values" to me. Or anyone.
President Obama’s decision to recklessly forge ahead with a plan to unilaterally change our immigration laws creates a constitutional crisis.
Impeachment is the only option. Just come out and say it already! Because really, the Constitution can survive keeping the families of American children intact. It certainly survived when Ronald Reagan, George Bush (both of them), Gerald Ford, and pretty much every president since Eisenhower issued similar immigration-related executive orders.
By allowing five million unlawful immigrants to live and work here through executive action, President Obama ignores the limitations placed on his authority and claims legislative power for himself.
Nah, he's setting enforcement priorities for his agencies. And the priority isn't to deport the immigrant parents of AMERICAN CHILDREN. Seriously, the guy and his party want American children to grow up without their parents.
More below the fold.
Due to the ambiguous and unworkable language in the administration’s guidelines, criminal aliens such as terrorists, gang members, drug traffickers, drunk drivers, sexual abusers, and other felons could stay here if there are “compelling or exceptional factors”—or in some instances, simply “factors”—warranting their release.
Got it? Obama wants terrorists and drug traffickers to stay. Because a "compelling or exceptional factor" might not be, say, a terrorist turning on his cell and becoming a government informant? Or a gang member turning state's witness?
You know what? If the Obama administration gives total freedom and a work permit to an unrepentant terrorist, the GOP has permission to impeach. Just like George H. W. Bush should've faced serious ramifications for giving safe haven to this unrepentant terrorist.
Additionally, the Obama administration permits sanctuary city policies by effectively leaving states and localities with the choice of whether or not to comply with the federal government’s requests for notification about criminal aliens booked in their jails.
STATE RIGHTS! Except, huh, on this thing. No state rights here.
President Obama’s new legalization program for unlawful immigrants also unfairly punishes legal immigrants playing by the rules and seeking to come to the U.S. the right way.
Thanks, old Republican white guy, for speaking for immigrants. Except, you know, they
disagree with you. Just because I was able to come to this country legally doesn't mean I want to deny that possibility to others. And it certainly doesn't mean I want to tear apart AMERICAN CHILDREN from their parents. But thanks for the concern!
As U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services shifts attention and resources to the processing of applications for unlawful immigrants, legal immigrants will face longer wait times for their petitions to be processed. This was true under the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program, which has allowed over 600,000 unlawful immigrants to stay here so far.
These UNLAWFUL IMMGRANTS of which you speak? They were minor children, brought to this country by their parents. HANG THEM!
With over five million unlawful immigrants standing to benefit from President Obama’s new executive decree, legal immigrants will only face longer wait times, even though they’ve already paid the fees to have their applications processed.
Here's a solution: Congress can appropriate more money to hire additional staff to speed up processing times. I know, it's not the same as splitting up AMERICAN CHILDREN from their parents, but you might want to consider it!
The House Judiciary Committee, which has primary jurisdiction over our nation’s immigration laws, will fight President Obama’s unconstitutional actions and will shine light on and correct the Obama administration’s anti-enforcement policies.
Oh, a light has been shed. You want AMERICAN CHILDREN to lose their parents. And no matter how many times you say "unconstitutional," the Supreme Court has made very clear, repeatedly, that law enforcement agencies have the discretion to prioritize their enforcement actions.
But really, the takeaway here is that you are really really really committed to splitting apart the families of American children.
