Missourinet's Kyle Loethen joined marchers on Highway 50 near the halfway point on the Journey for Justice march to the Missouri State Capitol. The NAACP has organized a civil rights march from the scene of a deadly shooting of an unarmed young black man outside of St. Louis. Loethen spent the day walking and talking with marchers and local residents from the city of Gerald and Rosebud.
Anyone who is operating under the delusion that we are living in a post-racial America should take a look at the way marchers were treated when they arrived in one Missouri community.
They met vitriol and hatred with dignity.
The marchers have arrived safely in Jefferson, after a rough patch going through the MO town of Rosebud (shown in the video) which Hunter documented yesterday in "Ferguson marchers met with fried chicken, Confederate flags, and gunshots." We covered the march in Black Kos on Tuesday.
The end of this march is in no way an end of the struggle to achieve justice.
Kudos to the marchers and all those who supported them along the long walk.
