Those aren't my words. That's a direct cut and paste from a recent report from the Pew Research Center for the People and the Press.
For the first time in more than two decades of Pew Research Center surveys, there is more support for gun rights than gun control.

More below the orange depiction of synapse collapse.
The change is broad based, the number of people deciding that guns are more apt to protect them than harm them is up across a broad spectrum of society, men, women, young, old, Republicans, Dems, but the largest increase is among African Americans, a whopping 25 point shift.
The only group to shift the other way? Liberal Dems. Liberal Dems believe guns put people's safety at risk more than they protect people from being crime victims by a 76/20 split. Pew claims liberal Dems have only shifted anti gun 3 points, I count 14 but what do I know, maybe I'm doing the math wrong, it's the chart above.
The third chart which I'll print below has some clever wording to try to drill down into the crux of the matter. Pew asks, "Is it more important to protect the right to own guns or to control ownership?" It's kind of like Pew is asking us to identify our bigger worry, people trying to take away our guns, or guns getting into the hands of the wrong folks.
