After six years of obstructing President Obama at every turn, congressional Republicans are getting ready to wail about how unfair it is that he might veto some of their priorities. Apparently the election of a bunch of Republicans to Congress in 2014 makes the election of a Democrat to the White House in 2012 irrelevant, and also Obama should do
exactly what Republicans have refused to do through his entire term in office.
“The challenge is getting the president to work with us,” said Sen. John Hoeven of North Dakota, who’s championing a bill approving the Keystone XL oil pipeline that the White House quickly threatened to veto. [...]
“If we’re doing our work, that he’s not going to work with us on, then the country is going to stay polarized,” said Rep. Markwayne Mullin of Oklahoma. “He needs to work with Congress, he doesn’t need to circumvent us.”
Like you worked with him on your dozens of Obamacare repeal votes? And your endless, fruitless Benghazi investigations? And every other scandal of the week you tried to gin up? And transportation funding? Shall I go on? Because I totally can, thanks to the ample material Republicans have provided for the "not working with the president" category.
Please, President Obama, work with the Republicans like they've worked with you!
