Maybe I should think we're in good company...maybe it means we will get the respect of fear, like the thugs(both union and urban) and the homos.Still, despite my own painful life-sucking experience withattendant-service budget cuts(Which, despite the comparatively happy ending, plays like the hook of a pop song we hate when anything happens... la, la, we could get cut off Even while that was going on, though, I never would have titled those diaries anything this stark. After all, I have family members that crouched(they are all six feet and over and need a tent with high ceilings!) under the GOP "big tent" for many years. And Texas elected one of ours governor, right? It can't be about hate, because my legislators thank me so hard for coming, and bend down to look me in my eyes. And because I used to be the calm, rational moderate that found Kos' title "American Taliban" embarrassing and intemperate. But my respectability(as big a sham as that all is) didn't save me.
Learning how to fight for myself did,at least for the moment(What a different world, and political process we might have if Rand Paul and Paul Ryan and the other guys that spew these horrible lies and hate about citizens with disabilities could feel the wind at their back instead of people like me.
What if "Anxiety? Back pain? Join the club" rather than joining the cascade of "Shit Rand Paul Says" could become an "Oh, shit!" macaca style moment.
(Not that I'm arguing that we seriously need more phony outrage on social-networking but I would like for more of my allies, friends and so forth to make it clear that that sort of bigotry is unacceptable to you as well.
While it's important for us to use our voices, they are clearer as part of a chorus. If somebody doesn't think it's worthwhile for you to live where you want, or that you pick your clothes, or keep a roof over your head, it doesn't matter how much they loved "The Other Side Of The Mountain" or even "Murderball"
