This article from CNN says so much. Message = good, motive = wrong.
Good article title - "5 ways to help save the bees". Good to inform the people that 'something' is decimating this vital part of ... um .. you know - our ability to eat.
Then you read the first paragraph - spoiler alert - the message?
Please help save the bees by planting some stuff organically because that will make more money for the big guys that don't (plant with any form of conscience).
Full idiocy below the fold
Here's the first paragraph of this article about "saving the bees" http://www.cnn.com/...
Through pollination, bees help produce many of our specialty crops like almonds, berries, fruits and vegetables. It's estimated that bees are responsible for about one in every three bites of food in the United States. That's a crop value of $15 billion to $18 billion.
Ya think that they might mention something about any theories about why this is happening? Ya think that they might mention that although none of these are proven that scientists are looking at any or all of the following as possible reasons for the destruction of these animals that are so critical for our crops?: (

"4.1 Pesticides
4.1.1 European Food Safety Authority statement

4.10 Genetically modified crops
Of course not!! Of course two basic things are mentioned
a) If something doesn't happen ?someone? is going to lose billions of dollars
b) You (dear serf) can actually help out by planting a planter box or two - you know - the way that your human ancestors did a while back. Come on - just get involved - save the world for the corporate farmers.
I'm sorry if this diary doesn't have an idea for a solution or a thought of how this might be addressed. I just nearly vomited when I read on CNN that maybe I could help save billions for sad old corporate farming that's killing off their own bees if I would just plant some stuff the old fashion way.
This was my reaction.
