I'm just steaming right now.
I got the dreaded letter from Anthem-Blue Cross this weekend.
Yes, both I and my ex-wife had our data stolen in one of the nation's largest data breaches ever.
Today, I set about to protect myself.
I will have to do this for the rest of my life, because the hackers (Russian Mafia? Chinese Students? Nobody freakin knows!) made off with our social security numbers.
Anyone else dealing with this crap?
Consider this a place to vent.
My rants are many:
1. Why should 80 million Americans have to spend at least 4 hours of their weekend and $30 out of their pockets to clean up a mess made by an arrogant Big Insurance company who fucked up royally?
2. How do I know that placing a fraud warning, credit freeze with three different agencies, and the supposed ID protection (for just 2 years that Anthem is providing) will work?
3. How badly can a company fuck over 1/4 of the American people and still not lose their corporate charter?
4. Why the hell aren't the heads of Anthem, Target, and all the other companies that have lost the personal data of millions of Americans forced to defend their actions before Congress and possibly face jail time?
5. When will the class-action lawsuits be filed to compensate us for the paranoia we will be forced to live with for the rest of our lives?
Welcome to my hell.
It will soon be yours too, my 80 million friends.
P.S. Don't blow it off if you get "the letter." This is a big freaking deal.
